What to you think about the movement of eliminating the words, "Under God" from the pledge of allegiance?

Here are the answers I received.

One Nation Under God
By Kathleen O.

The issue has aroused. The simple, yet powerful words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance have become a great ordeal. Some people say that they are deeply offended by these two words and want to take them out of the pledge of allegiance. If we took the words "under God" out of the pledge of allegiance however, it would go like this, "…one nation, indivisible," Doesn't that sound a like prideful statement? It makes it sound like we are boasting about our country, like we're saying that it's better than everyone else. Yes, we need to be proud our nation, but pride can go too far. The words "under God" help to remind us that we cannot control everything, that we are not the most powerful. It adds a little bit of humbleness our pledge of allegiance. We need to realize that the United States can't always be in control everything. We need that reminder. Without the words "Under God" our nation would forget that we cannot control everything, and that's simply the truth. Without the words "under God" what would our nation become?

I don't think "Under God" should be taken out of the The Pledge of Allegiance just because it offends one person, who is an atheist anyway. If they listen to that one person, they should think about Christians, too. Christians will be offended also if they take "Under God" out.

I believe this country was founded with God at the forefront. We would not be the great nation that we are without God --- actually, what success is there without God?

I believe it is ludicrous to even think of removing "Under God" from our Pledge of Allegiance

I think that it is wrong. We should keep it. We didn't invent the pledge of allegiance. We can't change it. Plus it is one nation under God!
